# First run — Visual Automation beta 6

For **1.0.0-beta.6**, using only its included test window in a disposable Windows session. No real game, account or document is needed. Read `BETA-TERMS.txt` first.

1. **Extract the whole ZIP** to a new local folder. Keep `app`, `runtime`, `samples`, `docs` and `licenses` together. The runtime is included. This beta is unsigned: if Windows or your organization's policy blocks it, stop; use a contact channel supplied by the Publisher if one is available. Do not bypass the warning or disable security software.
2. Close older Visual Automation editors. Open **`TestTarget.cmd`**, then **`Start.cmd`** from the same extracted folder.
3. In the editor, expand **Manage → Import ZIP** and select **`samples/First-automation-controlled-target.zip`**. Choose **Validate**. Importing creates a separate automation and does not start it.
4. Under **Observe & test**, select **Visual Automation · Controlled Test Target**. In that window, choose **RESET TEST** so it shows **EMPTY** and **TREE AREA**.
5. Keep the target fully visible and unchanged during the run. Keep collapsed floating controls in its header or outside the target; keep expanded controls away from the tree and inventory. Under **Run options**, select **Minimize editor during run**. Leave automatic activation off for this first exercise.
6. Choose **Start**, then click the target's **title bar** during the three-second countdown. Let the workflow confirm EMPTY, find the tree, click **once**, wait for positive FULL evidence and stop at **Complete / IDLE**. The first two checks may each wait up to ten seconds; the FULL check allows fifteen seconds.
7. Restore the editor from the taskbar and inspect **Activity**. **Stop for review** means the exercise did not establish the required outcome. Starting already FULL deliberately stops without clicking.

**If it pauses:** For **MENU WAIT**, move the controls clear of the target's body and markers and let the app recheck; do not repeatedly press Start. If the layout or result is uncertain, use **Stop**, inspect the scene, and reset only before a new deliberate run.

**To stop:** Use **Stop**, or press **F8** to request an emergency stop. Confirm **IDLE**; if F8 has no response, use the visible Stop/emergency button. Physical-F8 coverage is incomplete—see the [release notes](BETA_6_RELEASE_NOTES.md). Stay with the exercise while it runs.

The recorded native starter trials were on beta 5 at **100% display scaling**; beta 6 has not repeated those native trials. Other setups are not established by those results. For detailed sample guidance, see the package's `docs/STARTER_SAMPLE.md`. A dedicated support email is not available yet. If the Publisher supplied a direct contact channel, you may use it; review any log or screenshot before sharing it.
